What are Abstract Caricatures?
ABSTRACT CARICATURES are a juxtaposition of traditional caricature, and cartooning techniques with expressive abstraction. Combining the process of portrait drawing with improvised compositions using stencils, bold lines, and simple gestures—a unique likeness with a dynamic, exaggerated twist.
My style is inspired by late 19th, and early 20th century art movements like Art Nouveau, Cubism, Expressionism, Dada, Collage, and Futurism—when artists started to really break away from strict realism. I also have a fascination with gritty textures and distorted patterns, especially when they’re combined. One of my first art lessons was portrait drawing and I always enjoyed capturing a person’s likeness the best I could. All of this has had influence on my style.
